Meeting with the editor in chief at Novaya Gazeta

The group of journalism students from JMK are home from Moscow, where they established contacts with institutes of journalism and editorials. They visited the recognized newspaper Novaya Gazeta, the Journalism Faculty at the International University of Moscow and attended a annualy conference of the Russian Journalism Organisation.

He has applied for a residence permit from the Swedish Migration Board, but his application has been denied. He now hopes that his appeal to the Migration Court will lead to him being able to stay in Sweden.

-I want to go back to Bangladesh, but it’s impossible at the moment. If I’m deported from Sweden I am afraid I will be picked up by the authorities at the airport and abducted, says Hossain.

Among other things he’s writing a blog about extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh. Anwar Hossain is a student in Sweden since 2004, and this term he’s studing at JMK – the institute for Journalism, Media and Communication studies.

The trip, that originally should have taken place on May 21st-24th, has been postponed until fall for various reasons. This was to ensure the trip gets as much attention as needed and . . . → JSWB Gets SEK60 000 by the Olof Palme Center!]]> Today the Palme Grant awarded Journalism Students Without Borders 60 000 Swedish kronor to complete our first exchange trip to Moscow, Russia.

The trip, that originally should have taken place on May 21st-24th, has been postponed until fall for various reasons. This was to ensure the trip gets as much attention as needed and becomes a great start for the future exchanges between Sweden and Russias institutes of journalism.
